If you are hoping to watch your family grow by adding another pet to your humble abode, you can feel confident that a new Boston Terrier will fit right in. These are animals that are very social. They crave being around people, but will settle for a pet of any kind. They are dogs that will happily curl up next to a cat, as long as the cat approves of it. Honestly, they will cuddle with babies, dogs, and anything else that will lay still long enough. However, if you are concerned about bringing in a terrier or having an older terrier adjust to a new pet, there are things to keep in mind with Boston Terriers and other pets.
Bringing Boston Terriers Home
When you first bring home a new puppy or a full grown Boston Terrier, you will have to worry more about your older pet than the terrier as long as the terrier has been socialized a little. Most often, they will view the other pet as a higher up in the pack and therefore will bow down rather than pose a challenge to the other animal. It is the same as all other dogs. However, when you first bring home your Boston Terrier, you need to consider giving him a safe place and that other pets will not be able to attack him, especially if he is really small.
Introducing New Pets
If you have an older Boston Terrier, you should know already how well he will adjust to a new puppy. In general, most of the time it is not an issue as long as your dog is already socialized with a variety of animals and people. They may bark a little, but mostly they will just want to play, whether it is a cat, kitten, dog, or anything else. They will be curious and soon end up snuggled in a corner with the new animals. It will even help the Boston Terrier to be less bored when you are away from home. This makes them great if you have the hopes of adding new animals.
